Quantity Is More Important than Quality
I'm writing thirty posts in thirty days, again. This is number twenty-five.
In most domains in life, quantity is much more important than quality. Constant small displays of sympathy are better than occasional extravagant gifts. Twenty minimally competent emails do more than a perfectly crafted letter. Asking twenty stupid questions of someone intelligent can give you a basic education in an entire field of endeavor. If your life is stagnant, a simple increase in the amount and diversity of behavior will often do more than a delicately executed plan of action. Kinetic energy generalizes. Your notions of quality are often not what matters in a given situation. If you insist on quality in your actions, it might be that your self-critical tendencies are masquerading as concern for the manner of execution. Nobody else is tasting your cooking as thoroughly as you are.
