This entire post consists of implications of something that Tyler Cowen once said. In an interview with Tim Ferriss, he said that if he ever became too swamped by email, he would assume that he wasn’t being weird enough. That statement, alone, can lead you to a whole way of being. But perhaps I could elaborate on it.
On Twitter, I blather about a lot of subjects, but the one I return to most regularly is perfume, despite the fact that my perfume tweets are among the least popular I do. People don’t generally follow me for fragrance opinions. They follow me for other things, like viral tweets about the power of morning walks. But it’s important to me that I keep the perfume thing going. This is not just because I love fragrance, although I do. It’s really that I am trying to be deliberately anti-strategic. If the perfume tweets start doing too well, I’ll find something else to do that people don’t like so much.
