I feel so blessed to have lived in a community—to have felt seen and to have occupied a niche. The internet continuously lures me into lurking and observing people of various subcultures and walks of life. The people I observe often appear to be part of an endless stream of lonely, distressed soul. Set adrift without the kind of centering that a social function and embodied community provides. I fear that many don't even understand what they're missing, what was taken from them.
I interview a whole lot of researchers, and I think this is a phenomenal question to add to my toolkit when conversations get too technical. Thanks for the great post, Sasha!
