I see this a lot in my work as a therapist and coach. Many of my clients are men and entrepreneurs or small business owners, and the thing holding them back in their business is almost never a "business" problem. It could be unresolved trauma, a substance abuse problem, or a relationship issue, but once they address it, they are miraculously freed to take the steps they needed to take in their business, but were avoiding. So grateful for this brilliant post!! 🙏 I've also been exploring this fertile territory — how truly important our emotional states (what I'm calling "heartsets," much like mindsets) are to our ability to work successfully with others, and sustain our energy & engagement over the marathon that is our work lives. We're human — we feel feelings — so let's accept that, and then learn more about ourselves and how to thrive. AND, with more global awareness around the value of understanding our emotions, we can shift the whole narrative towards better ways of working! 💪
