I love it when people do things that they love, full on, unembarrassed. It almost doesn’t matter what the thing is, I get a hit off the enthusiasm. You have made me interested in perfume for the first time in my life. Congratulations on your first three perfumes, and best of luck. May the world respond with an enthusiasm that matches your own.

Would love to hear more about your take on the purpose of perfume. When reading your description of Coney Island Baby, I kept thinking I'd love to smell it but I don't really want to smell *like* it, and realized I'd always associated perfumes with fashion centered on seduction, which definitely limits what it would be used for. CIB sounds fun to smell but what/when should I put it on if I've only ever used cologne for date night?

CIB is actually quite wearable for an art perfume, which is what we were going for — there are perfumes that are more viable as artistic statements than general people-pleasers, but CIB isn't one of them. I think it's all fine: I have fragrances in my collection that are just for me to enjoy, fragrances that are loud and appealing if I want to smell good at a large outdoor party, fragrances that are more discreet, etc...

Samples ordered. Very much looking forward to the experience.

I bought the sampler in secret. I will not to buyers: the sample spritzers are overenthusiastic compared to the strength of the perfumes.

Notes on each below as I try them

El Dorado— my wife loves this one. I use Cremo's Silver Water and Birch (https://www.amazon.com/Cremo-Cologne-Spray-Sliver-Water/dp/B0799CJ7CS) daily before I go to work, having first picked it up when I liked the soap of the same scent by the same company. I'm a fan, but it doesn't really have depth or complexity.

When I secretly tried El Dorado, it reminded me of the parts I liked about SWaB: a clean, refreshing scent with hints of something tree-like and that almost-sweetness that a forest has in the early fall.

I thought it was really cool and went to sit down. My wife came to sit next to me, and then moved closer, and then closer, and then outright put her on my chest where I'd applied it. She had no confusion and asked right away if I had a new cologne and said it smelled fantastic. I didn't ask her for scent notes, but I think it was close enough to my standard preference that it made sense right away. I'm heavily leaning towards getting a big bottle of this one when I finish my sampling period.

Finally got my hands on some Incarnate -- magical! I cannot stop smelling my wrist. I've dubbed it the scent of Divali 2024 -- incensey, sure, but somehow blooms sandalwoody too? Yikes, I'm in love. 🧡

Wow your ability to describe these is thrilling. Not only the perfumes but the artistic process. I hope you blow out many nostrils in the best way. I’m not as good at the perfume turn of phrase. :)
